June 2024 Newsletter

Welcome to this month's edition of the KTLM newsletter! Here, we explore the most pressing issues facing today's workplace and provide insights to help you navigate these challenges with resilience and effectiveness.

This Month’s Focus

This month, we had the privilege of attending two prestigious college athletic conventions where we conducted leadership workshops. The first was the SVG College Summit in Atlanta, GA, and the second was #CSCUNITE24 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV.

Our overall takeaway? College leaders in communications and content are not only talented and committed but are also adeptly adapting to the ever-changing landscape of intercollegiate athletics. Their openness and purpose-driven approach are truly inspiring.

Throughout both conferences, we heard the recurring theme of 'why' these professionals are so dedicated to their craft. Their answer? They want to tell great stories about their scholar-athletes and coaches, furthering the mission and values of their universities. They understand that leading themselves and their teams requires working together to understand, listen, connect, and value each other. The more united their teams are, the more engaged they will be with the teams on the field of play.

For a deeper dive into this topic, listen to the compelling conversation with the leaders of College Sports Communicators on our Keep the Line Moving Podcast, Episode 79.

Leadership Observation

At the conventions, we explored the importance of being a solution-based leader rather than a problem-based leader. It's easy to identify problems, but true leadership lies in creating an environment where solutions and suggestions are encouraged. We discussed the benefits of fostering a culture of critical thinking and open-minded problem-solving. This approach is essential for navigating today's ever-changing world.

What we are working on…

This week, we're excited to debut our fireside chat and shorter podcast episodes on Keep the Line Moving. We have an impressive lineup of guests from both college conventions and beyond. We'd love to hear your thoughts!

We're also planning leadership workshops next month for several professional sports organizations. These workshops will focus on developing leaders at all levels, from high-potential individual contributors to emerging and senior leaders. It's inspiring to see these organizations prioritize learning and development, emphasizing employee wellness alongside their performance metrics.

Our targeted business outcomes include:

  • Better communication
  • Reduced stress and burnout
  • Improved time management
  • Increased employee retention
